Those seemingly amazing at-home blackhead vacuum cleaners are terrible for your skin

If you’re into the world of beauty, you’ve probably seen them: video of people appearing to use magical tiny vacuum cleaners to suck the blackheads out of their pores.

Most of these videos are adverts for said vacuum cleaners – also called electric pore cleaners – but others are reviews by beauty bloggers. Bloggers smooth the cleaners over their skin and we watch, hypnotized, as their skin gets sucked into the little machine and blackheads look as though they’ve been removed. The blogger then looks at their cleaned skin in wonder, raving about the vacuum cleaner’s magical powers. It’s easy to get sucked in (pun intended) by these vacuum cleaners.
